Pillar Page

A pillar page is a comprehensive, central page on a broad topic that links out to more specific, related content, forming the hub of a topic cluster.
Detailed Explanation

Rather than splitting authority across many thin, disconnected pages, a pillar page consolidates a broad subject in one place and links to detailed subtopics, concentrating ranking and citation signals onto one canonical URL.

A pillar page only works if the cluster beneath it actually exists. Published before the supporting content, it is just a long page with nowhere to send anyone — and the links that give it its value point at nothing. Build the subtopics first, then the hub that ties them together.

Why It Matters

Pillar pages prevent the kind of content fragmentation that dilutes authority, giving both search engines and AI systems one clear, authoritative page to point to for a broad subject.

Example

A "SEO vs AEO" pillar page links out to individual glossary terms, guides, and comparisons, serving as the central hub for everything related to that broader topic.
