Comparison Query

A Comparison query directly weighs two or more specific options against each other, such as "LazyCats AI vs Competitor."
Detailed Explanation

A comparison query weighs named options against each other. The buyer has a shortlist and is deciding, which puts this intent type closest to a purchase of the four.

Two distinct failures happen here. The first is absence — a competitor is compared against someone else and you are not in the conversation. The second is worse: you are included but described from your competitor's framing, because their comparison page was the only source available.

That second failure is fixable and frequently overlooked. If you have not published your own comparison content, the model has no choice but to build its answer from pages written by people with a reason to make you look worse.

Why It Matters

Comparison queries carry the highest buying intent of the four types, which makes them the costliest to lose. They are also the most controllable — publishing honest, specific comparison content is one of the few ways to directly influence what a model says about you next to a rival.

Example

Asked to compare two tools, a model produces a balanced-sounding paragraph. Every claim traces back to one competitor's landing page, because it was the only comparison content indexed. The answer reads as neutral analysis and functions as their sales copy.
