Claude
Claude is Anthropic's assistant, used heavily for research, writing and analysis rather than quick lookups. That usage pattern changes what visibility on it is worth: conversations tend to be longer and more considered, closer to how someone evaluates a purchase than how they check a fact.
Like other assistants, it answers from training knowledge in some cases and from retrieved web content in others. Its responses tend toward caution — hedging where evidence is thin and naming fewer options rather than padding a list. In practice that means a shorter shortlist, which raises the value of being on it.
For AEO purposes the implication is that clarity beats volume. Content that states a position plainly, with the reasoning visible, travels better through a model built to weigh evidence than content that hedges or buries its claim in marketing language.
Claude is used disproportionately for the kind of extended, comparative thinking that precedes a real decision. Fewer people use it than ChatGPT, but the ones who do are often further along in evaluating something. Presence there is worth more per mention than raw usage numbers would suggest.
Asked to compare tools in a category, Claude will often name two or three options and explain the trade-offs, rather than listing eight. A brand missing from that shorter set is more meaningfully absent than one missing from a long list — there was room for fewer names, and yours was not one of them.
